Even though the Japanese and the Italian school differ in terms of the chambray, they both master the art of this traditional fabric, with a strong personality, to perfection. Close to the denim with its raw appearance and natural indigo tint, it is nevertheless much lighter: its thickness of 135g/m2 is perfectly adapted to the temperatures of the mid-season. Technically, the weaving associates a white thread with an indigo thread: closely, one can see the grain of the ecru shimmering through the indigo, in fine layers.
To obtain its deep blue color, the fabric is washed-out (stone-washed): it has undergone several intermediate washes to obtain this tint. The shirt can be washed without fear at 30°C and will take on a unique and personal tint over time with each wash.
After having compared the Japanese chambray with the Italian chambray, we finally selected a chambray italienda of the Italian spinning Albini for our shirts and a Japanese chambray of the Sevenberry spinning for our accessories. Indeed, we found it interesting to associate the smooth and uniform aspect of the Italian chambray with the Japanese chambray and its more pronounced relief texture.
The chambray pocket square is an indispensable piece that will give your most conventional outfits a relaxed look. For a casual chic look, we advise you to wear this pocket square with a navy blue suit or simply with a white shirt, a jacket and raw jeans, or a beige or red chino. In terms of folding, make it a safe bet by choosing flat folding. You can find our recommendations and tips on how to fold a pocket square here.
